Six reading entries connect event interpretation, pre-event deformation and warnings with local mapping, water bodies and radar signals. ICIMOD's October preliminary synthesis is the latest addition. Reviewed on 19 October 2026; acquisition and publication dates remain separate.

The authors combine seismic, satellite, drone and other evidence to interpret a bedrock failure that removed part of an overlying glacier and triggered a cascading debris flood, rather than a conventional GLOF. Citing Hendrickx's preliminary model, the report estimates about 132 million m³ of rock and ice combined, still requiring validation with high-resolution pre- and post-event elevation models (printed pages 12–13 and 21).
Printed page 10 reports up to about 40 cm of Sentinel-1 InSAR line-of-sight displacement over the 48 days from to . This is evidence to investigate, not a measurement of 40 cm vertical subsidence.
The warning assessment asks whether people received, understood and could act on alerts in time. The number of SMS messages sent alone does not establish warning effectiveness.

USGS provisionally links the debris flow and flood to rapid glacier-involving slope failure, travelling roughly 100 km. Its 28 August account does not resolve whether a landslide incorporated glacier ice or the glacier itself collapsed.

Copernicus interpreted post-event imagery in selected river sections. This site uses mass-movement polygons from four product versions for Syapru Besi, Timure, Bidur and Phosretar, each limited to its area and imagery dates.

UNOSAT assessed mudflow and rockflow impacts in Rasuwa and Nuwakot using 26 August PlanetScope and 27 August Sentinel-2 imagery. It describes a historical interpretation within the analysed area, not continuous basin-wide monitoring.
UNOSAT interpreted two newly formed barrier lakes in 28 August CARTOSAT-3 imagery, estimating about 12 and 19 hectares near the border and potential ice-rock avalanche source area.
JAXA produced an automatic flood proxy from 28 August ALOS-2 radar observations, published through Sentinel Asia. It offers a different line of evidence from optical imagery.
Researcher interpretations and HOT/OSM community annotations remain separate, not agency findings. See the NDRRMA definitions and original-table discrepancy for casualty reporting; Nepal and Tibet counts are not added. This reading guide adds no new damage finding or map boundary.
